Description

Gong derives its name from one of its most intriguing ingredients: the Dorayaki accord. This delicately sweet aroma, reminiscent of the small filled cakes beloved during Japanese teatime, evokes the round shape of the instrument from which the pastry takes its inspiration—the gong.

The gong itself is a sacred, ritual instrument whose resonant vibrations soothe, inspire harmony, and guide us toward inner tranquility and joy. Indeed, "Dora" translates to "gong" in Japanese, completing this poetic circle. Here, our Gong signals the serene hour of tea, its deep, meditative tone embodying simplicity, mindfulness, and harmony. According to legend, the first dorayaki came into existence when a samurai named Benkei left behind his gong (dora) at the home of a farmer who was sheltering him. Ingeniously, the farmer used the gong as a pan to fry the pancakes, thus creating the iconic treat.
